Shri V. S. Kokje, Governor lauded the role of NCC and its contribution in national development, preserving unity and integrity of the nation and improvement in the society as whole through community development and social service. He was addressing the NCC contingents who participated in Republic Day Parade-2008 at New Delhi in 'At Home' ceremony held at Raj Bhawan here today.
Shri Kokje said that NCC represents the spirit of united and secular India. He said that the centrally organized national level camps go a long way in fostering this spirit. They also inculcate a sense of patriotism and guide the youth in being worthy citizen of the future, he added.
Shri Kokje further said that future of our great nation is in their hands and through them the promotion of righteous life, a clean and healthy environment and disciplined action in all areas of national development can be achieved. It is their duty to ensure that our nation fulfills the vision of being a developed nation by the year 2020 and be able to take its rightful place in the comity of nations, he added.
The Governor also gave away prizes to contingents of NCC of Himachal Pradesh on this occasion.
Brig. Rajender Singh, Deputy Director General, NCC, Directorate Punjab, Haryana, H.P. and Chandigarh detailed out the activities of the NCC.
Col. Ram Avtar, Group Commander, NCC Group, Headquarters Shimla welcomed the Governor and Lady Governor.
Smt. Leena Kokje, Lady Governor, Shri Ravi Dhingra, Chief Secretary, Shri Ashwani Kumar, DGP, Shri P. C. Dhiman, Secretary, Education, Shri Diljeet Dogra, Secretary, GAD, Shri J.P. Singh, Secretary to Governor and other army and NCC officers were present on the occasion among others.
