HP power corporation holds quarterly meeting

Quarterly management review meeting of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd., was held in the head office of Corporation in Shimla under the Chairmanship of Shri Tarun Kapoor, Managing Director yesterday.
Shri Kapoor said that 5 Hydro Electric Projects viz. Shongtong-Karcham HEP 402 MW, Sainj HEP 100 MW, Sawra-Kuddu HEP 111MW, Integrated Kashang 243 MW, Renuka Dam 40 MW have been assigned to the Corporation and are being executed by the Corporation.

He informed that the work on main headrace tunnel of Sawra-Kuddu has already started and work on Power house and Dam is likely to start by the end of this year adding that this project is likely to be commissioned within the 11th five year plan. He said that the preliminary work on Kashang Hydro Electric projects is going on and main work is likely to start by the end of this year. First stage i.e. 65 MW of this project is likely to be commissioned in the 11th five year plan, whereas the work on Sainj Hydro Electric Projects is likely to start in the beginning of next financial year, he added. The work on Shongtong-Karcham Project is likely to start in the third quarter of year 2009 and in Renuka Dam, land acquisition work is likely to be completed within this year. He said that the clear targets were conveyed to all the projects and they were told that if targets are achieved in time, incentives will be given to the employees.

Shri Kapoor further said that Himachal Power Corporation is now fully established and committed to adding power generation capacity in the state sector for the prosperity of the people of Himachal Pradesh. He said that the Corporation is also making efforts to get more projects in order to achieve its target of over 3000 MW by the year 2017 and 5000 MW by the year 2022. Corporation is set to emerge as a leading organization in power sector in North India, he said
