Sarveen Chaudhary, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister has been decorated with 'Rashtriya Gaurav Award' by a Delhi based prestigious non-governmental organization named 'India International Friendship Society' for contributions in the field of social development, women upliftment and welfare of Scheduled Castes and Tribes during the last one decade.
Shri Bisham Narayan Singh, former Governor of Tamilnadu conferred the award upon, the Minister in a glittering function in Delhi which was well attended by leading social and political personalities of the capital.
While speaking on the occasion, Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary said that the re-allotment of cultivable land under Land Reforms Act to eligible cultivators and farmers would go a long way in eradicating poverty from the society. She said that individual and regional gap and discriminations were on the increase in economic areas, which was a matter of concern. She said that the quota and permit system had encouraged the sole control of government on economic activities which had further aggravated the menace of burgeoning corruption in the existing system of our country and the State. The enforcement of the economic reforms had not been able to mitigate corruption, she added.
Smt. Choudhary further said that many States had registered appreciable achievements in strengthening their economy on the basis of their better natural resources and strong basic infrastructure, however, the economic gap in the masses had widened.
She said that the increasing gap between rich and the poor, in the lifestyle of urban and rural people had become a global problem. Going back to the relevance of economic policies adopted in the year 1990, Smt. Choudhary said that India was emerging as a strong 'Economic Power' and emphasized the need of private participation in the industrial sector in view of National Schemes and Priorities.
She also laid emphasis on special attention to agricultural sector with private participation and bring about a tangible change for quality production of foodgrains adding that the threat of foodgrains shortage be combated with collective efforts internationally.
Earlier, Shri Joginder Singh, the Chairman of the Society and former Director of CBI welcomed the Minister and eulogized her as a bold, enterprising and hardworking woman with exemplary contributions in the field of social services and women empowerment.
