One day annual Red cross mela on June 14

The H.P. State Red Cross Society held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of Smt. Sheela Dhumal, the Chairperson of State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section to review the arrangements for the one-day Annual Red Cross Mela to be organized on 14th June, 2008 at Shimla.

Smt. Dhumal informed that exhibition stalls of eatables, entertainment, flower show-cum-sale, exhibition-cum- sale of handicraft items would be put up besides organizing fancy dress shows and culture programmes by school children during the Mela.

She further stated that everyone of us should extend our financial assistance and cooperation to Red Cross Society so that its benefits could be percolated down to the eligible beneficiaries the poorest of the poor in the society. She appealed to all State Departments to supplement the efforts of State Red Cross Society help its benefits reach every targeted beneficiary.

Smt. Dhumal appealed to the people for their extensive participation in the mela activities and added that the income generated from different commercial activities during the fair would be spent for the welfare of the poor and the needy.

Shri U.S. Thakur, the Executive Secretary of the State Red Cross Society spoke at length on the multifarious activities of the Society and detailing out the activities of the previous Red Cross Mela.

Smt. Feroze Vijay Singh, Honorary Secretary of Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section, Smt. Malika Nadda, Smt. Pushpa Bragta, Smt. Roopa Sharma, Smt. Rupendera Rajpal, Smt. Uma Baldi, Smt. Ashwani Kumar members of State Red Cross Society attended the meeting, besides, officials and office-bearers associated with Red Cross activities.
